Classes & Groups

Meditation Group
    Meets every Tuesday evening from 7:15-8:15 pm at
    1101 Caroline St. in Fredericksburg at the Baha'i Faith         Center.
   
    The group meets in six week sessions and chooses a new focus for each session. We use both silent and guided meditation as well as using music to guide us. We have invited leaders from local spiritual communities to lead the meditations, including a visit to a local Buddhist Temple. We are currently completing a session focused on the seven chakras and have also focused on natural elements as well as energies such as Love and Peace.

    Participants are not required to attend every week and may join the group at any time.  There is no fee for the group but love offerings are gratefully accepted.

Songwriting for Teens
Ever wonder which comes first the music or the lyrics?  The answer is ...either can, and do.  Learn about the art of songwriting from Fritz Beer, who has been writing songs for over 20 years.  He has won several songwriting contests and has written and produced 7 full length albums.  He has composed songs for several short films and a feature length movie soundtrack.  He currently has songs in 4 running television shows.  Fritz will discuss songwriting from inspiration to completion and work with the students on songwriting projects of their own.  (Please bring a notebook)


Understanding Humor
Humor, what is it?  What is funny?  Why do we laugh?  How do we create humor? Join local comedian Michael Smart to address these and other questions regarding "funny".  Michael is a stand-up comedian and the founder of First Laugh Entertainment, a production company that specializes in comedy.  Whether he is producing or performing, audiences can count on him "bringing the funny anytime, anyplace."  Michael will also be joined by guest instructors Jim Pate and Brian Kerns, both nationally touring comedians. The discussions will include, stand-up comedy and its styles, humor in film and television, as well as cartoons and improvisation and creating humor.  The final day will allow the students to perform or to share humor that they have created themselves.
